So, Steena and Ebony Rose Walk into an Office...
As summer switches into high gear, so has our variety of fruit from The Pike Place Market. So much so...we added an extra fruit to this week's deliveries. Two standout fruits you'll want to try are Ebony Rose Plums and Steena Dark Red Cherries. Ebony Rose Plum "Ebony Rose" is a large reddish-black plum with very juicy, yellow flesh. Koru Apples!
With all this talk about cherries this month, we thought we would throw in an Apple Tree Story. Introducing the Koru Apple! The Koru apple is on the large side, with an attractive orange-red color over a yellow background. The shape is squat with some ribbing and russeting around the stem. It's "Rainier Cherry Month!"
In celebration of "Rainier Cherry Month," we have included organic local Rainier Cherries in this week's delivery. Rainier is a cultivar of cherry. It was developed in 1952 at Washington State University by Harold Fogle, and named after Mount Rainier. It is a cross between the 'Bing' and 'Van' cultivars.
