Seattle finally has some good Blood oranges in town!
This crop is small but packs quite a delicious bite. The color comes from an abundance of health-protecting anthocyanins, the same compound found in berries. And no you can't tell if there's purple flesh inside by the color of the rind.
Speaking of berries, we found some great blackberries. They have a nice tart-sweet flavor and pack an even healthier boost to your immune system than the blood oranges. We hope to keep them in the weekly mix until they play out.
We switched up another citrus this week to include Clementine mandarins. These small beauties are dense with true citrus flavor and also easy to peel. We also added in our superior green-tip bananas and excellent premium grade WA Extra Fancy "Pink Lady" apples.
